31 Marketing, PR, & communications

This category is for telling everybody about your great product or service.

Overview

This is a place to oversee your marketing, PR, & communications efforts.

Anything that you would classify as self-promotion, either paid or free. This is where you organise, track, and analyse it.

We all tend to do some kind of marketing. For many businesses, this category will be heavily used. But if you’re, say, a sole trader who relies on word of mouth, you might not have much here.

This is also where we formerly introduce the areas where you make the content that is used for marketing, 40-49 and 50-59. Because you do not make it here.

You’re a Decimal now, which means not burying important creative files in places you’ll forget about them.

This may sound bossy, but it’s kind of our job to be bossy. Because we want to help you find things, work better, and avoid unnecessary frustration.

Create IDs based on what you need

The first ID is a list of all marketing, PR, and communications. It’s a handy index that sits at the top of the category.

You create the others depending on what you need, starting at 31.11.

Examples

Social media campaigns; print or digital newsletters and mailings; print, digital, radio, TV, or outdoor advertising; press and public relations; podcasts you make or appear on; sponsorships; trade show attendance; coupons, gift cards, and offers; tracking things to do with website or blog analytics and SEO; and anything else that you would classify as self-promotion.
